Wind Tunnel

Wind Tunnel was an installation by Astrid Greaves Carla Lipkin and Sarah MacLean. It was installed at Grow Op: The Culture of Landscape at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto in 2014. Wind Tunnel was a sound and video installation. Carla, Astrid and Sarah collected all their own video footage and sound recordings of wind and constructed a tunnel made out of fabric and wood. They invited the visitor to walk through and experience their recreation of wind (without wind).

Artist Statement: There are certain intangible qualities to a space that cannot be accounted for solely through design. Environmental elements are inherent in our canvas as designers of landscape. This prompts us to question: How much of the atmosphere of a space do we have control over? How do we design the intangible? Can atmosphere be a typology? Is it possible to construct the atmosphere of wind without wind?
